The Along the River During the Qingming Festival has come to life！ The National Palace Museum and Taiwan Power Company have collaborated to launch the “Palace Museum Treasures Go Electric” digital traveling exhibition, running from now until February 14, 2016. Taipower stated that the exhibition features the largest “moving” version of the “Along the River During the Qingming Festival” in the country—measuring 13 meters long and about 4 meters high—where visitors can closely admire the scenery along the Bian River and the daily life of the people. There are also interactive national treasures and DIY activities.

Taipower said that this exhibition allows visitors to “play with the national treasures” through touch-based interaction. For example, in the “Fantasia of the Tang Palace” section, the national treasure “A Musical Performance” comes alive with dynamic visual and audio changes as visitors step on representations of different global cities such as Taiwan, Paris, and New York—shifting from the familiar modern life of Taiwan to the romantic streets of Paris and the exotic atmosphere of Broadway in New York. Meanwhile, in the “Autumn Colors on the Qiao and Hua Mountains” section, the artwork changes with the movements of visitors’ hands, making them feel as if they’ve become the painters themselves.

The Palace Museum noted that the exhibition includes seven interactive digital artworks such as the “Digital Version of the Along the River During the Qingming Festival,” six reproductions of calligraphy and paintings, and the 3D animation “National Treasure Mythical Creatures: The Great Adventure,” adapted from works by the Qing court painter Giuseppe Castiglione. These offerings engage visitors’ visual, auditory, and tactile senses, allowing them to experience the charm of the museum’s digital treasures. There is also a themed area featuring the mythical creatures for photo opportunities, as well as a free graffiti wall for painting national treasures and DIY activities like making your own rubbing of a treasured bookplate.
