Since opening in Hong Kong’s Tsim Sha Tsui Harbour City in July 2015, the internationally renowned New York-based cake shop Lady M has remained hugely popular. By noon every day, long queues form outside. The brand's signature cheesecakes are made with over 20 layers of delicate pastry, offering a smooth texture and sweet flavor. It was once ranked among America’s top ten cakes by U.S. magazine BON APPÉTIT.

New York-based Lady M opened its first store in the United States in 2004 and now has outlets in the U.S., South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong — including two in Hong Kong: one in Tsim Sha Tsui and one in Central. Its signature items include cheesecakes, mille crêpes, and cheesecakes, with the mille crêpes being the most beloved. Currently, Lady M Hong Kong offers three flavors of cheesecakes: original, brown sugar, and the Hong Kong-exclusive Earl Grey, launched on October 23.

Each cheesecake is made with more than 20 layers of homemade pastry that are soft and fragrant with egg aroma. The original cheesecake is currently the most popular flagship flavor. Each layer is hand-spread with fresh cream, topped with a golden caramel crust, and boasts a sweet yet not overly rich taste. Even Chef Li Youjun from Taichung’s Salted Pig loves it, saying the original cheesecake has a silky-smooth texture and moderate sweetness, unlike the cloyingly sweet Japanese versions.

The brown sugar mille crêpes cake uses Japanese brown sugar, paired with a milky flavor to create a richly sweet taste. A layer of caramel is brushed between each crepe, adding a slight crunch. The original mille crêpes cake from Hong Kong is made with locally sourced milk, resulting in a creamier flavor, with caramel brushed on after baking, giving it a richer aftertaste.

As Lady M has limited seating and draws large crowds, peak hours often involve waits of up to two hours. Harbour City recommends arriving before opening at 10:00 AM.
