When traveling in Hong Kong, have you ever wondered where to go for breakfast? This food capital offers a wide range of breakfast options. In addition to traditional Cantonese-style dim sum restaurants like “Lin Heung Tea House” and “Lin Heung Court,” there are also many Western-style brunch spots favored by young people, such as “Tin Hau Cafe,” “Australia Dairy Company,” and “Yee Shun Milk Company.”
Among them, both “Australia Dairy Company” and “Yee Shun Milk Company” are quite famous for their steamed milk. The two shops are also very close to each other—wouldn’t it be a pity not to visit both popular spots in one morning? Let’s start with an introduction to Australia Dairy Company.

Actually, when Unrestrained first heard the name “Australia Dairy Company,” he didn’t think it was a place that served brunch at all. The name seemed to suggest a shop that specialized in Australian milk. It wasn’t until later that he learned the founder worked on an Australian farm in the 1940s, so when opening the shop, he named it Australia Dairy Company. That makes the strange name a bit more understandable.
Australia Dairy Company is located in Jordan and is famous for its dairy and egg dishes, especially steamed milk and scrambled eggs. How could Unrestrained, who loves dairy products and is a scrambled egg enthusiast, miss this place?
Visiting the shop around noon, as expected, meant waiting in line. The queue stretched nearly 30 to 40 meters from the shop entrance to the sidewalk. Well, for steamed milk and scrambled eggs, a little wait is worth it. Actually, the wait isn’t too long—about ten to twenty minutes before you can get a seat. Everyone seems to eat pretty quickly.

The shop confidently recommends its steamed milk and steamed eggs on the wall near the entrance. Through the transparent display window, you can also see rows of bottled fresh milk and neatly stacked steamed milk waiting to be enjoyed.

As soon as you step inside, you’ll see lots of staff bustling about, quickly delivering food and taking orders. It turns out that Australia Dairy Company serves food extremely fast. Also, since the shop is often fully booked, most customers don’t dare to take too long over their meals. Usually, they finish eating quickly and leave, which is why the table turnover rate is so high.
A hyperactive staff member rushed Unrestrained to his seat at lightning speed, and then came back to ask what he wanted to order just twenty seconds later. What? I hadn’t even had time to properly look at the menu or decide what to eat, and you’re already asking me to order? ORZ !

You can order individual items or combos. Besides drinks and desserts, the options include toast, sandwiches, and macaroni.
After telling the hyperactive staff member to wait a moment, he stood nearby and kept staring at Unrestrained. Unrestrained and his friend felt the intense gaze and were under a lot of pressure... In addition to the “scrambled egg toast” and “steamed fresh milk” they had already planned to order, they just randomly chose a “peanut butter toast” and a glass of iced milk tea.

After ordering, the hyperactive staff member dashed to the kitchen at hyperactive speed and then returned with the food in hyperactive time. In total, it took less than two minutes for Unrestrained’s entire order to arrive... Hmm, that’s actually great, but it was all just a bit too hyperactive ! It was kind of stressful.

Let’s start with the scrambled egg toast. For HK$17 (around NT$68), the scrambled egg toast looked amazing, and it didn’t disappoint in taste either!!! Really excellent.
The scrambled eggs weren’t overcooked and still had some eggy juice. The right amount of salt enhanced the egg flavor. Paired with toast (a.k.a. the “toast”) spread with butter and soaked with egg, every bite gave you soft and tender scrambled eggs, crispy yet chewy toast, and the aroma of butter and eggs spreading in your mouth—it was incredibly satisfying. The inner movie playing in Unrestrained’s head was probably something like the scene in the anime “Cooking Master Boy,” where the eyes suddenly widen, then the character is shocked and floats up to the clouds in euphoria.
The toast was a bit like Taiwan’s thick toast, though not as thick—maybe two-thirds the thickness of regular thick toast. It didn’t feel too thin or leave you feeling overly full. After finishing the scrambled egg toast, Unrestrained really wanted another one.

Compared to the scrambled egg toast, the peanut butter toast, which cost HK$10 (around NT$40), was somewhat less impressive. The texture was similar to the peanut butter toast you’d get at ordinary breakfast chains like Merry’s. It wasn’t bad, but nothing special, and you couldn’t taste any peanut bits (speaking of peanut bits, Unrestrained couldn’t help but think of the delicious peanut butter toast from Singapore’s Toast Box—that one had real dedication).

After finishing the toast, it was time for the steamed fresh milk. Steamed milk is a dessert from the Guangdong region. During its preparation, the egg yolk is removed, using only the egg white, along with sugar and milk, resulting in its snow-white color.
A bit like custard, the steamed fresh milk had an intense milky aroma, was cool and slightly sweet, and melted in your mouth. You just couldn’t stop eating and would finish the bowl in no time. Although a small bowl costs HK$26 (around NT$104), it’s really quite worth it.

As for the glass of iced milk tea, which costs HK$20 (around NT$80), there’s not much to say. Unrestrained feels that it’s hard to find bad iced milk tea in Hong Kong.
Quick conclusion: The scrambled egg toast is truly delicious, and the steamed milk is also quite good. They really live up to being the shop’s signature items. When you visit Australia Dairy Company, you definitely have to try them. After eating, you can visit the nearby and equally famous Yee Shun Milk Company to compare the two steamed milks.
