A Must-See in Japan: The World’s Largest Light Garden Created with 1.5 Million LEDs – A Dreamy Sea of Fluorescent Blue

Traveling to Japan now isn’t just about viewing the autumn foliage — there’s also the world’s No. 1 “Garden of Light” that you must see. Operated by the APA Hotel Group, the APA Resort Joetsu-Mikawa features the world’s largest “Garden of Light,” created with 1.5 million LED lights. Stretching along the rolling hillsides, hundreds of thousands of LED lights form a dreamy blue fluorescent sea. This breathtaking spectacle has even earned certification from the Guinness World Records. The display is only open until November 15.

APA Resort Joetsu-Mikawa is located in Niigata Prefecture. Every year starting in summer, the resort takes advantage of its geographical strengths to create spectacular and magnificent light displays. Spanning a 30,000-square-meter hillside and themed “Twin Dragons Calling for Happiness,” the resort uses 1.5 million LED lights to create four major illuminated zones, painting beautiful light artworks across the landscape. Even from the entrance looking uphill, you can admire the splendid romance of the blue fluorescent sea. It has also been certified by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest solar-powered LED garden.

Starting from the entrance, APA has built a 300-meter-long Light Tunnel, using seven colors to let visitors enjoy a rainbow glow even at night. Walking across sparkling lights through a dreamlike colorful tunnel, or sitting on a bench watching the changing lights, the romantic scenery starts at the entrance and quickly fills up your phone’s memory. It’s also claimed to be the world’s longest light tunnel.

Passing through the tunnel and entering the depths of the forest, the park uses LED lights to create a romantic light forest here. Walking along the illuminated paths, an entire sea of fluorescence shifts in brightness along with the music, as if stepping into a kaleidoscope world — a visual feast that captivates the eye.
