This year continues the spirit of last year’s“Thank You Festival of Japan’s Tohoku Six Prefectures”, as the six prefectures of Japan’s Tohoku region will host the “Japan Tohoku Play Day” at Huashan 1914 Creative Park from December 4th to 6th. With even greater enthusiasm, they have prepared an even more exciting program, hoping to share the joy with the people of Taiwan. Beyond expressing their gratitude, they also aim to showcase the tourism charm of Japan’s Tohoku region and create opportunities for exchange between the people of Tohoku and Taiwan.

A gratitude zone will be set up at the event site, showcasing how generous donations from Taiwan after the 311 earthquake have taken root and blossomed across the Tohoku region. Notably, the 2 billion Japanese yen donated via the Taiwan Red Cross was used to build the “Minamisanriku Hospital 0+ Medical Center” in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, which opened on January 25th. It will continue to protect the residents of Miyagi Prefecture, serving as a beacon of light warmed by the love of Taiwan.

During the event, traditional Japanese festivals will be presented, along with performances such as the “Namahage Taiko” drumming from Akita Prefecture and the “Sansa Odori” dance from Iwate Prefecture. On December 5th, actress Michelle Ye (Yang Chin-hua) will also be invited to share her travel experiences in Tohoku. Additionally, 10 round-trip tickets to Japan and various Japan Rail Passes will be given away as prizes for attendees to take home.
