It's been 4 years and 8 months, and they're still thanking Taiwan! The Japan Tohoku Thank-You Festival debuts in Taipei

It has been four years and eight months since the Great East Japan Earthquake. To express gratitude to Taiwanese travelers, the six prefectures of Japan’s Tohoku region have once again come to Taiwan to hold the “Japan Tohoku Six Prefectures Thank-You Festival.” With the event themed around fun and entertainment, they aim to thank Taiwan while also promoting tourism in the Tohoku region.

The theme of this year’s “Japan Tohoku Six Prefectures Thank-You Festival” is “Japan Tohoku Fun Day.” A “Thank-You Zone” has been set up at the venue. The organizers stated that the enthusiastic donations from Taiwan following the 311 earthquake have taken root and blossomed across the Tohoku region. In particular, the “Minamisanriku Hospital 0? Brew & Pub Center,” built in Minamisanriku Town, Miyagi Prefecture, was completed and opened on November 25, 2015. It will continue to protect the residents of Miyagi Prefecture as a beacon of light, warming the Tohoku region with Taiwan’s love.

At the “Japan Tohoku Six Prefectures Thank-You Festival,” cherry blossom saplings gifted by Japan to Taiwan will be displayed, along with ema prayer plaques personally written by the head priest of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Chuson-ji Temple in Iwate Prefecture, as blessings for the people of Taiwan. The main stage area will be presented in the style of a Japanese cherry blossom festival, with food and drink sampling stalls set up along the cherry blossom avenue, allowing visitors to experience the joy of viewing cherry blossoms in spring.
