A student favorite！Classic Yilan braised pork rice set meal with a half-boiled golden egg

[Northeast Corner Signature Braised Pork Rice] Located close to Yilan Railway Station and JiMi Park, this hidden gem is often overlooked because it’s tucked away in an alley. Though it's only been around for a little over a decade, come mealtime, the tiny shop fills up with students fresh from class, their faces glowing with happiness. Every time I drive to Dongmen Night Market and swing by this unassuming [Northeast Corner], I’m always met with crowds both inside and out. I often wonder: what’s the magical charm of the [Northeast Corner Signature Braised Pork Rice], so beloved by locals and students alike?

If you’ve visited the renowned art space [Sell Eighth Place], you’ll find [Northeast Corner Braised Pork Rice] just a short walk away. The official address is on Kangle Road, but the entrance is actually on Hemu Road, which intersects with Kangle Road. The photo below shows Hemu Road — keep walking straight toward the lively, bright area, and you’ll find it.Dongmen Night Market!

Nowadays, many visitors to Yilan stop by JiMi Park and Diudiuang Forest in front of Yilan Railway Station. After snapping some photos, head east along Yixing Road in front of the station toward Donggang Overpass. When you see the [85°C] on the left (as shown above), that’s Kangle Road. Turn in, walk a few steps, and you’ll reach [Northeast Corner] to dig in.

The price list on the wall below is from 2013 when I dined here — super cheap！Now most items have gone up by about NT$5～

When night falls, it’s truly amazing how [Northeast Corner] can be so packed to the brim — quite a sight to behold！

If you’re planning to eat your fill here, go ahead and splurge on their “Pork Knuckle Rice Set” or “Q-Meat Rice Set.” But if you’re saving room to raid Dongmen Night Market and indulge in all its crazy eats, then just get the braised pork rice set like me. The classic braised pork rice comes with three side dishes (selected by the shop, and if you’re lucky enough to get braised tofu, consider yourself lucky) — more than enough to fill you up.

Along with the three sides, you also get this half-boiled golden egg drizzled in sauce — but it’s only half an egg, honestly not nearly enough！

The set meal also comes with a bowl of soup — you can choose between meatball, fish ball, or wonton soup.

Yilan is full of meatball and rice vermicelli soup, but who knew [Northeast Corner] would also have mutton soup？I immediately ordered a bowl of noodle soup to try.

After polishing off the braised pork rice set and then tackling a massive bowl of mutton soup noodles, I was completely done infor Dongmen Night Market— but my face sure was happy！
