World’s First “Planetary Ocean Underwater Hotel” to Build 12 Suites at a Cost of $600 Million

Underwater hotels have always been the boundary that hoteliers aim to break through, but recently,the Planet Ocean Underwater Hotelhas obtained a U.S. trademark patent and is recognized as the world’s first underwater hotel.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail,the futuristic-looking Planet Ocean Underwater Hotel will be built about 8–9 meters below sea level so that guests can enjoy panoramic views of the underwater world. Everyone is eagerly anticipating its completion, as potential locations reportedly include Malaysia, Egypt, Hawaii, and the Bahamas — all under consideration by the designers.

Lead designer Tony Webb stated, “The goal of emerging tourism is to push beyond the traditional boundaries of the ocean,” and added that the hotel will also support coral reef restoration initiatives.

However, technically, this hotel is classified as a vessel because it has its own propulsion and can move to safety in the event of a hurricane. The project is currently seeking buyers, and the planned 12 suites are estimated to cost around £13 million, approximately NT$640 million.
