Taiwan’s northernmost camping hidden gem – enjoy a private peninsula seascape all to yourself

Camping has become one of the most popular holiday leisure activities, with over 1,500 campsites across Taiwan. But this “peninsula hidden gem,” which was once a campsite 30 years ago, lay abandoned for 20 years before finally reopening at the end of January 2017. Boasting breathtaking views of the North Coast’s seascape, sunrises, and sunsets, it claims to be the northernmost campsite in Northern Taiwan. With its unique conditions, it aims to rekindle the camping dreams of outdoor enthusiasts.

Located on the Shimen District’s Linsenbi Peninsula along the North Coast, the protruding cape faces off against Fugui Cape at Taipei’s northernmost tip. On one side is the famous Baishawan Beach, and on the other is the Linsenbi Trail, which gained popularity after being featured in the movie “Secret.”

This cape has long been a mysterious area. Thirty years ago, it was home to the “Baishawan Recreation Center,” the only privately owned peninsula in Taiwan. It was abandoned 20 years ago due to the former chairman’s business transformation, but in January this year, it reopened under a new guise—as a campsite named “Peninsula Secret.”
