But there’s one requirement to enter this tunnel—youmust first wear blue-and-white slippers to enjoy this beautiful sight.

Since the Golden Tunnel is entirely made of glass, regular shoes could increase the risk of wear or even breakage. To prevent this, the museum requires visitors to purchase blue-and-white slippers for 50 NT dollars before entering to admire the tunnel’s beauty. As for why blue-and-white slippers? It’s partly due to supporting local rubber slipper businesses, which have been declining. Regular footwear can be slippery on the glass floor, so the museum partnered with local manufacturers to create non-slip rubber slippers. This ensures visitors can safely enjoy the tunnel while also helping sustain the local industry—hence the unique sight of museum-goers in blue-and-white slippers.
