The 6.4-meter-tall wobbly rocking horse is back！Meet it at the Flower Sea & Balloon Carnival on January 1.

The wobbly rocking horse is back！The Sanyi Township Office has planted cosmos and other flowers on fallow fields around the extension of Route 196, creating a 120-hectare flower sea. It has also introduced the wobbly rocking horse and a Year of the Monkey balloon, becoming new highlights of the 2016 Flower Sea & Balloon Carnival. There will also be eight monkey-patterned balloons incorporating agricultural totems, debuting on New Year’s Day and making an early appearance at the Luodong Cultural Factory on the 23rd. In the future, they will be moved to the event venue, allowing visitors to enjoy the flowers while also seeing these super-cute giant balloons.

The wobbly rocking horse balloon is 8.3 meters long and 6.4 meters tall, serving as a stand-in for the rocking horse. Township Chief Huang Xiyong said that although the rocking horse was destroyed by Typhoon Dujuan, its adorable image has remained deeply rooted in people’s hearts. This year, the rocking horse is combined with elements of the Year of the Monkey, featuring a three-story-high giant balloon of a monkey riding the rocking horse, standing 8.8 meters tall, symbolizing “immediate success and prosperity.”

The flower sea is distributed across two areas: the Shuanghe Redevelopment Area at the end of Route 196 and Tiansongpi. It is expected to gradually bloom starting from New Year’s Day 2016. Paired with the continuous flower sea and the distant view of Mount Dabajian, it will form a serene landscape painting.

Large, colorful balloons will be set up along the entrance to the flower sea, guiding visitors into the cute and fantastical flower sea area. On the opening day of New Year’s Day, the Sanyi Township Office will also give out 500 free rocking horse pencils to the public.

The Sanyi Township Office reminds visitors that since this is a newly developed section, signboards will be placed at major intersections within the township to facilitate access. Flower-viewing visitors can reach the venue via two main routes, each entering the flower sea area from different sections:
1. From Yilan, go straight along Route 196 after crossing the Waizaiwaibridge; signs will be posted along the way
2. From Luodong, take Provincial Highway 7C via Guangxing Bridge, go straight until you see signs at the Sanyi Police Station
