Travel the mountains and forests by train: “Alishan Forest Railway” adds extra section trains on Sundays

To allow more travelers to explore the mountains and forests aboard the Alishan Forest Railway, Taiwan Railways announced that starting January 3, 2016, under the theme of “Sunday Hiking Fun,” one additional Zhongxing-class section train will be added between Chiayi Station and Duli Mountain Station on both Sunday mornings and afternoons.

Taiwan Railways stated that the “Sunday Hiking Fun” Zhongxing-class section trains depart at 8:20 AM and 1:00 PM, making stops at Beimen, Zhushan, Camphor Factory, and Duli Mountain Stations along the way; the return trips depart at 9:50 AM and 2:30 PM from Duli Mountain Station. The one-way fare is NT$120, and tickets are unreserved—passengers can purchase them on the day of travel.

In addition, to alleviate crowding among visitors on various branch lines within the Alishan Forest Recreation Area, starting February 2016, the operation time of the Zhaoping Line section train has been moved up to start at 9:00 AM, while the Shengmu Line section train’s last departure times in the morning and afternoon have been extended.
