Don’t get stuck on the road tonight—the traffic control plans for Dream Mall and E-DA World’s New Year’s Eve events are out!

Have you figured out how you’ll ring in 2016? But no matter where you go, be sure to pay attention to traffic controls. The traffic bureau has released the traffic management details for Kaohsiung’s E-DA World and Dream Mall—everyone should take note to avoid being stranded on the roads on New Year’s Eve.

1. E-DA World
The 2016 E-DA World New Year’s Eve fireworks show will kick off on the evening of December 31. Unlike previous years, this year’s event will not include a concert but will instead feature a classical symphony performance at the E-DA Royal Theater, followed by an 888-second fireworks display at midnight.Roads in the surrounding area will be under traffic control starting at 9:00 PM.A transfer parking lot and free shuttle buses have been set up at the former Renwu Campus of Yongda Institute of Technology. Please pay attention to the control information and consider taking the shuttle buses to the event.

Traffic Bureau Director Chen Jin-Fu stated that in coordination with this year’s E-DA World New Year’s Eve activities, the city government and E-DA have planned a “motor vehicle and motorcycle traffic separation, E-DA Bus dual shuttle” control scheme. Road traffic control measures will be implemented around the venue, along with the opening offree shuttle parking lots, shuttle buses, and temporary passenger transport hubsto help manage the flow of visitors.

Traffic Control: A two-phase traffic control system will be implemented on surrounding roads, covering areas east of National Freeway No. 10, including Shuiguan Road, E-Da 2nd Road, Xuefu Road, and Xuecheng Road. During the entry period, the first phase of control is expected to begin at 9:00 PM on December 31, prohibiting car entry into the controlled area while simultaneously activating shuttle parking and bus services. The second phase of control is expected to start at 11:00 PM, prohibiting motorcycles from entering the controlled area. For the exit period, starting at midnight, motorcycles on E-Da 2nd Road will be given priority to exit, with cars allowed to leave only after 1:00 AM.

2. Dream Mall

The 2016 Kaohsiung New Year’s Eve celebration will be held on Era Boulevard. The Kaohsiung City Government has also prepared comprehensive traffic management measures, including increased train frequency and extended operation hours for the Kaohsiung MRT until 2:00 AM. Several MRT-connected shuttle bus lines will also extend their service hours. Coordination with Taiwan Railways will add three extra northbound (to Tainan) and three southbound (to Pingtung) trains after the event. Traffic control will be enforced around Era Boulevard that day. Drivers are encouraged to park at one of the eight MRT transfer parking lots and take the MRT, or use the free shuttle buses available at the Shin Kong Public Parking Lot or MLD Ta Aluminum Lifestyle Mall. The public is urged to use public transportation to avoid traffic congestion.

Traffic Control: From 6:00 on December 31, 2015 (104 year in Taiwan calendar), to 2:00 on January 1, 2016 (105 year), three-phase traffic control will be implemented around the Era Boulevard New Year's Eve event area — vehicles are prohibited from entering or parking in the controlled zone which includes areas east of Chenggong Second Road (inclusive), south of Fuxing Third Road, west of Zhongshan Third Road, and north of Xin Kaixuan Fourth Road. Enhanced towing and penalties for illegal parking will be enforced in the vicinity.
