The 3-day New Year’s Day holiday is here!/nA chart shows congested sections at 8 major scenic spots in New Taipei

Various police precincts under the New Taipei City Police Department will increase staffing and traffic guidance at these congested sections and attractions, as well as step up enforcement against violations around stations and scenic areas. In addition, to enhance bus transport services during the consecutive holidays, the Transportation Bureau has requested bus routes passing through scenic areas such as Sanxia, Ruifang, Bali, Tamsui, and Wulai to adjust service frequency flexibly based on passenger demand, providing more options for travelers. The public is advised to avoid congested areas when possible or opt for public transportation.

As January 1st is a public holiday, the six road sections that normally implement lane-adjustment controls on weekdays—the Datong Road section in Xizhi (from XinTai 5th Road to Minquan Street), Jinxing Street in Zhonghe, Yongfu Bridge in Yonghe, Yonghe Road (from Zhongzheng Road to Zhulin Road), Yongyuan Road (from Deyi Road to Yongli Road), and Ankang Road in Xindian (from Section 2, Lane 158 to Ankeng Interchange)—will suspend these measures during the holiday. Motorists are reminded to stay alert and follow lane control signals when passing through these areas.

On the other hand, to facilitate travel for those returning home or going on trips, roadside parking fees in non-holiday zones will be waived during the New Year’s Day holiday period. However, roadside parking fee-charging zones in areas such as Banqiao, Xinzhuang, Xizhi, Tamsui, Bali, Sanxia, Yingge, Shenkeng, and Jinshan will maintain normal charges from January 1st to 3rd.

Director Wang Shengwei of the Transportation Bureau urges the public to save time during the New Year’s Day holiday by using public transportation as much as possible. For those driving, make good use of alternative routes, pay attention to variable message signs along the roads, and tune in to police radio broadcasts for real-time traffic updates to help avoid congested areas.
