No need to worry about your phone running out of battery — Hualien rolls out heartwarming “Friendly Charging Stations”

With smartphones now ubiquitous, they’re incredibly convenient for taking photos or checking in, but the downside is how easily they run out of power. What should you do if your phone dies while you’re out shopping? The Hualien City Government has heard the public’s voice and recently launched “Friendly Charging Stations,” where people can charge their phones for free at designated shops when their devices run out of juice.

As times change, having a smartphone has become the norm, and the Hualien City Government previously introduced a “Friendly Toilet” service, which received high praise from the public. Now, it has gone a step further with the “Friendly Charging Stations,” aiming to help temporarily resolve the issue of dead phone batteries and create a more user-friendly urban tourism environment. Currently, five shops serve as pilot Friendly Charging Stations, includingorip Life Traveler, Hualien Cultural and Creative Park, Old Railway Business District’s Muzhu Handmade Soap, Fengxing Bakery, and Rose Garden Homestay. More locations may be added in the future based on demand, with the goal of giving every traveler a place to recharge both themselves and their phones, ensuring they can continue to enjoy their trip.
