Eating Japanese BBQ has long been a must-do for many travelers, and one Kyoto BBQ spot run by an old-school butcher shop is especially popular. Known for its fresh meat and cuts from various parts of the cow, the highlight is the accompanying beef certification. The place gets packed during meal times, making it one of Kyoto’s most sought-after BBQ restaurants.

▲ Kyoto’s q<肉Q?
“Kyoto’s q<肉Q?
Kyoto’s q<肉Q?

▲ Beef and scallion rolls topped with aspic are incredibly delicious.
As a place famous for its meat, the offerings here truly stand out, particularly the beef tongue and beef scallion rolls. The beef tongue, served with a squeeze of lemon and paired with scallions, isn’t overly fatty—its tender texture carries a hint of sweetness and melts in your mouth, while the lemon helps cut through any richness. The beef scallion rolls use plenty of scallions, which in Japan have a fragrant yet mild bite. Paired with specially made aspic and grilled beef, the fat blends with the scallion aroma for another delicious treat.
