New Admission Fees at Yangmingshan and Kenting National Park to Take Effect on January 1, 2016

The Ministry of the Interior’s Construction and Planning Agency has recently selected certain national parks to implement the first phase of a new fee system starting January 1, 2016. Among them, Kenting National Park will adjust the admission fee at Eluanbi starting January 1, and plans to begin charging entry fees at Niaosong Cape Park from May 1. Parking lots within Yangmingshan National Park will also start charging fees from January 1. Travelers are advised to take note.

The National Park Division of the Ministry of the Interior’s Construction and Planning Agency stated that starting January 1, 2016, the admission fee at Kenting’s Eluanbi will be adjusted: the full-price ticket will rise from NT$40 to NT$60, seniors aged 65 and above can enjoy a 50% discount on weekends and holidays by presenting valid ID, and children under 12 years old will be admitted free of charge (ID required). On weekdays, seniors aged 65 and above can enter for free upon presenting valid ID.

Niaosong Cape Park is expected to begin charging fees from May 1, with a full-price ticket set at NT$30 and a half-price ticket at NT$15. Meanwhile, the Longkeng and Nanshan ecological reserves will no longer be free and will adopt the new fee system.

Parking lots within Yangmingshan National Park will also adopt a fee system starting January 1. Chang Shun-fa, spokesperson for the Yangmingshan National Park Administration, stated that currently only the Yangming Shuwu (Yangming House) is a paid attraction within Yangmingshan, but starting in 2016, parking lots will also begin charging. The fee standards are as follows:

Weekdays: Large vehicles NT$100 per entry, small vehicles NT$50 (NT$30 at Xiaoyoukeng), motorcycles NT$20 (NT$10 at Xiaoyoukeng).
Holidays: Lengshuikeng and Qingtian Gang will use a time-based system — large vehicles NT$60 per hour, small vehicles NT$30 per hour, motorcycles NT$10 per hour.
