Three family-friendly homestays that let you admire mountain clouds and gaze at the sea from bed — thoughtful details at every turn

Selected from the hospitable homestay brand created by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, these three family-friendly homestays all offer sea views, whether up close or from afar: Liusehai Beautiful Time Homestay, Happy Marshmallow Homestay, and Beach Castle Homestay. Some provide thoughtful amenities, others create a playful atmosphere with kid-friendly decor, and one even has a slide bed right in the room. All three have been certified by the hospitable homestay brand and ranked in the top three, offering not just peace of mind but also comfort.

Liusehai Beautiful Time Homestay
Unlike the conventional notion of family-friendly stays, this homestay doesn’t offer typical amenities like slides. Instead, it focuses on meticulous care, with bright, sunlit rooms that fill with natural light as soon as the day begins.

The owner, Sister Hong, said: “We’re classified as a family-friendly homestay because weprovide baby bathtubs, strollers, and high chairs for infants,and if needed, we can push two beds together to prevent toddlers from falling. Additionally,the bathroom has a small chair for kids to use during washing up, and breakfast comes with child-sized utensils. We also have a crib available if needed. There are books and toys for children to use.”

The entire homestay is a standalone building with a modern style. The rooms are elegant and simple, with tiled floors that add a refreshing feel. There are 2-person and 4-person rooms, named Yicui, Jubi, Zhai Xing, and Lan Yue. Each has its own balcony with direct sea views. Walk barefoot on the tiles, stroll through the balconies, and breathe in the salty sea breeze — it’s the epitome of a vacation vibe.

Happy Marshmallow Homestay
The owner, Mr. Sun, said: “Guests call us Mr. and Mrs. Marshmallow. The rooms have oversized Polaroid cameras, along with some small toys and children’s books. But mostly, it’s our childlike hearts.” This playful couple has designed rooms that are warm and cozy, blending minimalist adult aesthetics with whimsical touches.

Happy Marshmallow Homestay features aHello Kitty-themed roomcalled Pink Marshmallow, with beige walls covered in Hello Kitty wallpaper. The bedside table is shaped like a giant Kitty head, and there’s a pink sofa, bed linens, and a vanity desk beside the bed — creating a pink space perfect for little girls. There are also powder blue and coffee marshmallow-themed rooms.

Beach Castle Homestay
Located in Magong, Penghu, this homestay features loft-style rooms with large sea-view balconies. It’s just a one-minute walk to Shan Shui Beach, designed as a family-friendly beach vacation retreat. The parent-child rooms, decorated in yellow and white, integrate the bed and slide into one design.

Not all rooms at Beach Castle Homestay are parent-child themed. There are also four-person rooms for friends and four-person loft rooms. The parent-child four-person rooms span 16 pyeong (approx. 52.9 square meters), with dark wooden floors adding a mature touch, complemented by vibrant, cheerful bedding — like a yellow slide, red beanbag chairs, and green stairs — perfectly suited for kids, their playfulness highlighted against the calm wooden flooring.

The room includes a slide bed that combines a bed and slide, various stuffed animals and rocking horses, and even a secret play area just for kids. The bathroom has a large bathtub, and the balcony faces the sea, with the beach just a one-minute walk away.
