The Yilan Samsung Hwahai Balloon Festival kicks off for 15 consecutive days starting from New Year’s Day, bringing joy to all visitors!This year, building on last year’s popularity, the event features a balloon mascot — the nearly two-story-tall Rocking Rococo Horse, and a cute 4.5-meter-high monkey balloon, stationed in a vast field of golden cosmos flowers, aiming to welcome the New Year with happiness alongside the public!
Township Chief Huang Xiyong stated that this year, the Rococo Horse combines elements of the Year of the Monkey, aiming to let visitors “welcome the Year of the Monkey joyfully and full of vitality.” A giant“Horse Carrying a Monkey”combination structure, reaching up to three stories high, symbolizes promotion and prosperity.The flower fields are distributed in the Shuanghe Redevelopment Area at the end of Highway 196 and the Tiansongpi area, and are expected to gradually bloom after New Year’s Day.。The Samsung Township Office said that to prevent damage to the flower fields caused by large crowds, a special flower field has been set up this year exclusively for visitors to take photos.

The festival site is spacious, with convenient parking.Flower viewers can reach the venue via two main routes,which help ease traffic flow.The first route is via Yilan, going straight over Wai’aziwai Bridge to the end of Highway 196, with signs along the way. The other route is via Luodong, taking the Guangxing Bridge on Provincial Highway 7C until you see the signs at the Samsung Police Station.
