Travel search engine Skyscanner today (Jan. 8) released the monthly average ticket prices for the top 4 countries and regions Taiwanese visited most in 2015, helping travelers find the best flight deals during holidays, and also unveiled its 2016 holiday travel guide to enjoy the perk of

According to the 2016 Government Agency Work Calendar published by the Executive Yuan’s Ministry of Personnel Administration, there are a total of eight consecutive holiday periods this year, including New Year’s Day (3-day holiday), Lunar New Year (9-day holiday), Peace Memorial Day (3-day holiday), Tomb-Sweeping Day (4-day holiday), Labor Day (3-day holiday), Dragon Boat Festival (4-day holiday), Mid-Autumn Festival (4-day holiday), and National Day (3-day holiday).Among these, travelers can take 3 days off during Tomb-Sweeping Day to enjoy a 9-day long break; they can also take 3 days off during Dragon Boat Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival to get an 8-day consecutive holiday.

Skyscanner statistics show the top four most popular travel destinations for Taiwanese people in 2015,namely Japan, Hong Kong, the U.S., and South Korea.Based on fare statistics, the main off-peak travel seasons for these four destinations are May, September, October, November, and December. For example, Japan’s average annual fare is NT$9,428, but the most expensive month, February, sees an average fare of NT$13,116, while the cheapest month, December, is only NT$8,104—a difference of NT$5,012. The U.S. has the highest fare difference of up to NT$10,970, which is enough to fund another trip abroad.

Skyscanner suggests that travelers planning to visit these destinations this year make use of Labor Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day holidays to travel abroad. Not only can they enjoy in-depth travel with longer holidays, but they can also save money.
