2016 Tainan Flower Festival – A Blossoming Extravaganza Kicks Off on February 4

The Tainan City Government announced that the “2016 Tainan Flower Festival” officially kicks off on February 4. Continuing last year’s concept of flowers blooming all over the city, this year's floral exhibition will be spread across six parks in Tainan. Visitors are welcome to come during the Spring Festival; those taking leisurely strolls can enjoy a great place for flower viewing and relaxation in this springtime bloom, while also helping boost Tainan’s tourism industry. The event is scheduled to conclude on February 25, running for 22 days.

Nanying Green Heart Park in Xinying District – Wukong Garden
Featuring Sun Wukong as the main character, this section uses an oversized prop technique to present a story-themed space centered on the Monkey King.

Jiali Park in Jiali District – Fantasy Forest
Drawing from the rich fantasy elements of Journey to the West, this area combines local Jiali culture — the Taiwan Sugar Railway — with the park’s existing woods to create a colorful and fantastical entrance.

Liujia District Multi-purpose Sports Park – Fruit Flower Paradise
This area is themed around the Flower-Fruit Mountain from Journey to the West, integrating Liujia District’s local characteristics (arts, warmth, and childlike fun) to showcase the style of this Flower Festival.

Xigang Central Park – Adventure Journey
This section captures the adventurous spirit of Journey to the West, combined with the similarly adventure-themed fairy tale “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” presenting the story’s adventurous plot and creating an educational yet fun exhibition space.

South District Shuiping Park – Floral Ancient Capital
Themed “Floral Ancient Capital,” this area combines Tainan’s unique features, tourism, farming culture, and industrial culture to create a special flower exhibition showcasing the charm of the historic city.

Shuijiao She Park in the South District
This area features flower arrangements inspired by the culture of the former military dependents' village of the Thunder Tiger Air Force Base at Shuijiao She, along with monkey-year themed activities.
