Japan’s cherry blossom forecast released: Tokyo on March 22, Osaka on March 28

Though it’s still winter, the Japan Meteorological Corporation today (14th) has released its latest cherry blossom prediction. The earliest blooms are expected to appear on March 22 in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Kofu. Due to the mild winter, Kyushu and Kagoshima will bloom later than usual.

The Japan Meteorological Corporation has released its latest cherry blossom blooming forecast. Key viewing areas for travelers: Tokyo is expected to see blossoms from March 22, as will Nagoya and Kofu. Fukuoka is predicted for March 23. In the Kansai region, Osaka will bloom slightly later, around March 28. Sendai in the Tohoku region will have to wait until early April for the blossoms.

Regarding how weather affects the blooming period, the Japan Meteorological Corporation’s website states that due to the mild winter, cherry blossoms in eastern Japan are expected to bloom earlier than usual. Those in western Japan will bloom around the same time as in previous years, while Kyushu will see a slight delay, and Kagoshima even more so.
