Recently, more and more old buildings in Tainan have been revitalized. One of the latest discoveries is “The Warehouse Fresh-Cut Steak,” located in an old railway warehouse. Dining in a historic site adds a unique flavor, and what’s even better is the restaurant’s dedication to premium meats and high-quality ingredients. Steak lovers, read on below XD

Let’s start with the location. Recently, two new districts have popped up near Tainan Railway Station. One is the “Tainan Cultural and Creative Industries Park,” right next to the station, and the other is “The Warehouse,” located in the “Tainan Cultural & Artistic Special Zone.” It’s roughly across from Tainan Park—both areas were transformed from Japanese-era warehouses and building complexes, and they’re gradually drawing more attention.

The exterior features weathered red brick walls full of charm, along with a lush old banyan tree. Its long-growing aerial roots have become intertwined with the warehouse, which The Warehouse has chosen not to remove, letting them remain in their most natural, original state.

This cultural & artistic special zone includes four venues: Machi Ban Alley (an open-air music restaurant), The Warehouse (steak restaurant), Eleven Store (art exhibition space), and U Bar (bar). A friendly reminder: don’t park randomly around here—even scooters can get towed or fined. Fortunately, there’s a paid parking lot right at The Warehouse’s entrance, making dining here quite convenient.

From the moment you're seated, you can feel how warm and friendly the service staff are—it's really a pleasant experience. This place used to be a food storage warehouse, which is also where “The Warehouse” gets its name. The brick walls covered with banyan roots and the original wooden roof preserve the unique elements of the old warehouse.

Though the lighting is quite dim at night, making photography a bit challenging… this slightly yellowish hue gives the old building a calm and weathered sense of history. Next to the entrance, there’s a stage where, according to the staff, live band performances take place on Friday and Saturday nights.

Since it’s called “The Warehouse Fresh-Cut Steak,” the star attraction is naturally the beef Up~ So what does “fresh-cut” mean? It means the restaurant insists on using chilled beef. They serve “Ultra Black Wagyu” and “9A Angus Premium Beef”—both top-tier quality. After 45 days of aging, the beef is directly air-freighted from the U.S. every day while still chilled, guaranteeing unbeatable freshness and flavor.

Main course prices range from 380 to 2180 NT, mainly offering Western-style steak meals, plus a good selection of red and white wines that pair perfectly with the dishes. Even better, The Warehouse has hired a sommelier—if you’re unsure what to drink, just ask him.
● 《ET News Cloud》 reminds you: Don’t drink and drive. Don’t drive after drinking.

For an additional 380 NT on your main course, you can upgrade to include an appetizer, salad, soup, bread, and dessert. There are three appetizer options: grilled squid with spicy tomato sauce, grilled prawns with white wine herb rice, and grilled scallops with asparagus and sea urchin sauce. The plating may vary daily, as the chef adds his creative touch—pretty unique, huh~

The salads aren’t just generous on veggies—they also feature chef-crafted dishes. Again, three choices: spicy tuna with lemon wine vinegar, pan-seared scallops with citrus peel, and grilled duck breast with pear. The mildly spicy seasoning enhances the sweet taste of the tuna, and it’s topped with caviar—absolutely delicious.

The grilled duck breast with pear salad features tender, pink-hued duck breast paired with lightly pickled reddish pear and orange vinegar sauce—tastes great and is wonderfully juicy without being dry.

The pan-seared scallops with kumquat salad feature scallops sitting atop grapefruit and lemon slices. The trio of aromatic fruits complements the golden, tender scallops beautifully—it’s flavorful and delicious. A friend said eating the lemon slices was surprisingly good; although I’m not a fan of lemon peel, the scallops are so fragrant that a squeeze of kumquat juice makes it perfect. This dish alone costs 200 NT.

That day’s soup was a smooth monkey head mushroom bisque, rich and creamy in texture. The French bread was spread with garlic butter, crispy and savory—dipping it into the bisque was fantastic.

That day, Colin ordered the “8 oz Ultra Black Wagyu Ribeye with Port Wine Sauce.” Commonly known as the connoisseur’s cut, the ribeye has beautifully marbled fat. When heated, the fat melts into the sweet meat. It’s not cheap, but probably the best-tasting steak I’ve had recently—absolutely amazing.<"而且食仓保留了肋眼旁最大的那块油脂,保留了最完整的切面,超赞阿!!

Mimi ordered the “8 oz Ultra Black Wagyu Tender Shoulder with Port Wine Sauce.” This cut is 80% lean meat, with fine marbling that’s fully integrated into the flesh—aromatic, hearty, boneless, and not overly tough at all. It’s so good you’ll keep cutting slice after slice. If you prefer less fat and a lighter taste, my sister strongly recommends this one—it’s incredibly delicious.

My friend had the “New Zealand Lamb Chop,” also served with port wine sauce. Even if you don’t like or can’t eat beef, this lamb actually smells amazing too. After this meal, I truly trust the quality of meat used at The Warehouse—it’s highly recommended.

The bone-in yogurt pork chop—I sneakily tried a bite. The chef cooked it just right, with firm meat that delivers a rich pork aroma, yet not even a hint of gaminess. It’s made from high-quality Taiwanese yogurt-fed pork, raised through more natural and humane methods.

Chocolate dessert and fresh fruit—an excellent Happy Ending to this wonderful steak feast.

Overall, “The Warehouse Fresh-Cut Steak” left Mimi with a very positive impression in both meat quality and service attitude. The unique historic ambiance is also a big draw. Although the prices aren’t low, steak lovers who enjoy premium-grade beef should definitely give it a try.
Also, if you’re visiting Tainan, this spot is conveniently located right next to the train station. Nearby, there’s the Creative Industry Park, Tainan Park across the street, and 321 Alley not far away. Plus, National Cheng Kung University and the Governor’s Residence are also close by—easy to turn into a half-day itinerary.
