While Taiwan is freezing cold, central Thailand is bathed in sunshine, with a vast golden sea of sunflowers waiting for you to enjoy, bringing the warm vibes of spring. The Tourism Authority of Thailand also recommends that if you want to see the most stunning sunflowers, don’t miss Lopburi, located northeast of Bangkok. The blooming season is expected to last until February.

Nong Khaem Chaisi sub-district in Lopburi is about a two-hour drive from Bangkok and is usually the first spot where sunflowers bloom in full glory. If you want to catch the first wave of sunflower fields this year, this is the place to go. The Tourism Authority of Thailand notes that the sunflower blooming period lasts around 10 days, and local farms rotate their plantings so that sunflower fields across different farms bloom in succession. As long as you visit during the blooming season, you can always see a vast golden sea of flowers.

In addition, most sunflower farms offer free entry. Some farms provide extra services, such as pony rides and mini tractor tours of the farm. There are also stalls selling sunflower oil, sunflower seeds, as well as fruits, food, and drinks. The Tourism Authority of Thailand also recommends the Phatthana Nikhom district, Sai Thong Phatthana district, and Khok Samrong district in Lopburi as top spots to enjoy the first sunflower blooms of the season—well worth a visit.
