Located just a street away—less than a five-minute walk—from Australia Milk Company, the Yee Shun Milk Company Jordan branch is a go-to spot for many foodies who want to try both famous milk puddings in one area and compare them. Yee Shun Milk Company has many branches, with its flagship store located in Macau. Due to its immense popularity, it has also opened four branches in Hong Kong. The specialty of this shop is that it handles everything from raising the cows, milking them, to producing related fresh dairy products in-house, which gives a sense of quality control and reliability.

After finishing the Australian Milk Company’s scrambled egg toast and milk pudding—which left Unrestrained thoroughly satisfied—it was just a two- to three-minute walk to Yee Shun Milk Company. The shop is not very big, about one-third the size of Australia Milk Company, and its storefront shows some signs of age. The sign features a large cow illustration, clearly proud of its dairy products. There were still available seats at the tables and chairs inside, so we got a table immediately. In terms of popularity, it’s somewhat less bustling compared to Australia Milk Company.

The menu includes sandwiches, toasts, macaroni, as well as fresh milk products and various desserts. Not knowing what to order at first, I went for the “Ham Fried Double Eggs,” “Beef Macaroni,” and, of course, the shop’s signature dessert, the “Famous Double-Skin Milk Pudding.”

While waiting for the food, I noticed something trivial but kind of cute—the utensils here are all printed with the shop’s red logo.

This bowl of 29 HKD (approx. 116 TWD), chilled “Famous Double-Skin Milk Pudding,” as the name suggests, features two layers of milk skin. It’s said that the making process is quite labor-intensive: first, the fresh milk is steamed, then after cooling, the solidified milk skin on top is carefully taken and placed onto another bowl of already set milk pudding.
Unrestrained rarely encounters this type of Hong Kong-style dessert and didn’t quite understand how much difference an extra layer of milk skin would make, but taste-wise, it was just as good as the one from Australia Milk Company. Just from the aroma alone, you can tell it’s pure milk fragrance. Once in the mouth, its soft, smooth texture is very pleasant, and the rich milk aroma wafts through your mouth—slightly more intense than the one from Australia Milk Company. Plus, it’s sweet without being cloying. Highly recommended.

A 25 HKD (approx. 100 TWD) plate of “Ham Fried Double Eggs” arrived, and Unrestrained regretted it instantly—it felt like pretty poor value for money. The taste matched its appearance: rather bland and unremarkable. It basically tasted like homemade fried eggs with a few slices of ham. A bit disappointing, lol. But life can’t always be smooth sailing—you’re bound to hit a few duds. That’s life.

Next, this 28 HKD (approx. 112 TWD) bowl of “Beef Macaroni” looked more appetizing. Before digging in, there was quite some anticipation for the taste. First, a sip of the soup—then, “surprise!” What I thought would be a rich broth turned out to be way too bland, and what looked a bit thick was actually as thin as water, only faintly salty with a hint of milk flavor. Moreover, because the broth wasn’t very flavorful, the macaroni didn’t absorb much taste either—it was just an ordinary pasta you’d expect. The beef, however, was quite tender—that was a small plus.
After trying both “Australia Milk Company” and “Yee Shun Milk Company,” my takeaway is: if you have limited stomach space and can only choose one of the two for a meal, Unrestrained would definitely pick “Australia Milk Company,” because not only is its milk pudding delicious, but the scrambled egg toast is great too. As for Yee Shun Milk Company, maybe I just didn’t order the best dishes, but I found only the milk pudding to be really good.
