More free water stations to reduce bottled water use in Paris: Unlimited free "sparkling water" available

Many people have had this experience: when traveling in Europe, they find that drinking water isn’t free and must be purchased. When you’re thirsty, not only is it an extra expense, but it’s also very inconvenient. As early as 2010, Paris installed eight public drinking fountains in the city center. Recently, the city government announced plans to install sparkling water fountains in 20 districts (arrondissements), benefiting both locals and travelers who enjoy fizzy drinks.
According to the Lonely Planet website,Before December, nine sparkling water fountains will be installed, with the first one located in Square Eugene Varlin. In fact, the initial idea from the Paris city government was to encourage residents to stay better hydrated. Parisians consume approximately 40 gallons of bottled water per person each year, and with a population of around 6.5 million, the city aims to reduce bottle waste by promoting public drinking fountains.
Many may doubt the freshness of the sparkling water, but in reality, the water comes from the municipal supply and carbon dioxide is added at the last stage, ensuring the water remains clean. Most sparkling water fountains are located in parks or gardens.
