This year’s Chinese New Year holiday lasts nine days, and many people are planning trips. From the end of 2015 to early this year, eye-catching new attractions have been popping up around Taiwan. This article specially compiles a list of "Must-Visit New Attractions in Northern Taiwan for Chinese New Year"—why not take the opportunity to visit them with family and friends during the holidays?

1. Keelung | Eternal Cultural and Creative Park – Van Gogh Starry Sky Grassland
Created by Wang Chen-Wei, a professor at National Changhua University of Education who previously designed the “Shaking Memory” Paper Chapel in Puli, this attraction repurposes 4 million discarded PET bottles to create a landscape of Van Gogh’s famous painting “Starry Night” within Keelung’s Eternal Cultural and Creative Park. In addition to recreating the iconic artwork, it also aims to raise awareness about environmental protection and recycling. The evening lighting adds a whole new dimension of beauty.

2. New Taipei City | Linkou Mitsui Outlet
The “Linkou Mitsui Outlet,” which opened on January 21, is Taiwan’s first Japanese-style outlet. The complex features a semi-open design, with 220 brands and 16 dining options. Aside from attractive brand discounts, it also houses several restaurants making their Taiwan debut. Since its opening, it has drawn large crowds of shoppers and foodies every day.

3. Taoyuan City | GLORIA OUTLETS Huatai Premium Outlets
Huatai Premium Outlets is Taiwan’s first American-style open-air outlet. The mall is located in Qingpu, Zhongli District, Taoyuan City, adjacent to both the Taoyuan HSR Station and the Taoyuan Airport MRT Station. Phase one hosts 102 brands, 24 of which are making their first appearance in a Taiwanese outlet. Average discounts reach up to 35% off. For food, a major highlight is the Japan’s wildly popular queue-worthy ramen brand “Kin no Ramen,” making its Taiwan debut. Its signature chicken white soup ramen, rich in collagen and refreshing in taste, is especially loved by female customers.

4. Hsinchu | Zhudong Anime Park
Zhudong Anime Park claims to be Taiwan’s only anime-themed park and the largest of its kind. It features the world’s only “Pikachu-themed station,” as well as eye-catching structures like a mushroom house, multi-functional exhibition halls, and cafes—all visually captivating even from the outside.

To celebrate Chinese New Year, the park has introduced new attractions including a 13-meter-long steel Tyrannosaurus rex, inflatable robot adventure island, and a 3-meter-high slide for visitors to enjoy.
