A parade of pastry mascots stands guard at Kaohsiung’s “Golden Pineapple” Castle to enjoy pineapple cakes

Kaohsiung has added another tourist factory to its lineup—the Golden Pineapple Castle, a new pineapple cake tourist factory set up by Wei Qu Pie in Kaohsiung. With its grand, castle-style exterior, visitors can not only enjoy the fun of DIY pineapple cakes but also meet an adorable army of pastry mascots stationed throughout the castle, making it perfect for family outings and a paradise for shutterbugs. Truly, it's a dream factory for pineapple cakes. On this day, after watching two special exhibitions at Pier-2, we headed to the Golden Pineapple Castle located on Tongxie Road in Kaohsiung’s Sanchong District. Driving along Zhonghua Road, you can spot the castle’s pointed spires from afar. Not only is the exterior majestic and grand, but both inside and outside the building, there’s an army of pastry mascots designed based on their own products—so cute that you just can’t stop taking photos. It really is a dream factory for pineapple cakes.

Golden Pineapple Castle Visit and DIY Information:

1.Admission & Fees:Tour guide participation fee: NT$50 (can be used as store credit), pineapple cake DIY material fee: NT$200 (reservation hotline: 07-321-6666).

2.Tour Schedule:One session every hour on the hour (09:00–20:00, excluding 12:00 noon and 17:00 in the afternoon, totaling 10 sessions).

3.Visiting Guidelines:Floors 1, 2, and 5 are product exhibition areas; the 7th-floor rooftop garden and 8th-floor Dream Restaurant are all free to enter. Floors 3 and 4 are the sightseeing corridor and DIY classrooms, which require joining a guided tour to access.

4.Parking Information:Spend NT$200 in-store to enjoy 1 hour of free parking at the contracted parking lot, and so on, up to a maximum of 3 hours. Exchange your parking voucher at the reception desk.

In addition to the King of Pineapples and the Queen of Egg Yolk Pastry welcoming you at the entrance, there are also mascots representing different pastries upstairs, making it perfect for photos even before you step inside.

The first floor of the Golden Pineapple Castle is a product showroom, designed with an indoor greenery concept. Products are displayed in a circular layout, with a tasting area in the center where you can sample items while waiting for your guided tour.

On this day, we first checked in at the first-floor reception to register for a guided tour and received a visitor number. This time, we opted not to participate in the pineapple cake DIY session.

There’s also a fairy-tale musical clock on the first floor. Through an interactive ground projection game, after stepping on 13 diamonds, a mascot will appear. During the tour group that Bear joined, there were quite a few visitors, making it a bit difficult to get clear shots of the empty background. The area next to the music clock is an interactive experience zone, and the photos taken will be displayed on the TV wall next to the escalator.

After the experience, we took the escalator with the tour guide and headed up to the third floor. The next area is only accessible by joining a guided tour. As this is a pineapple cake tourist factory, the pineapple-shaped escalator entrance sets a fun atmosphere as if entering a pineapple-themed world—it kind of feels like you're about to go into SpongeBob’s house.

The escalator is lined with adorable pineapple soldiers wearing tall hats printed with pineapple logos, and the lighting inside changes accordingly. Be sure to hold the handrail tightly and stand firmly on the steps when taking photos on the escalator—safety first.

Bear didn’t manage to capture photos of the magical fluorescent walls in the Delicious Forest. Next came the monster-fighting zone, an interactive game where visitors help defeat the Black-hearted Emperor and harmful additives to restore a safe food environment for the Kingdom of Pineapples.

The third stop is the 3D spherical projection room, where you can admire aerial views of Kaohsiung and pineapple fields through the central sphere and surrounding projection walls.

Going further inside is a photo zone that both adults and kids go crazy for. An array of mascots representing various products line up, all super cute. Nearby, you can watch the pineapple cake-making process through a glass window. Tour participants can also enjoy freshly baked, hot-off-the-oven pineapple cakes served via a retro train—it’s super adorable. After delivering the treats, the train even reverses back.

For more information about the mascots in the Golden Pineapple Castle, detailed introductions to each group can be found on the fifth floor. These include the representative of pineapple cakes: the King of Pineapples, holding a pineapple scepter. There’s also the Bread Ball Fairy, the Chestnut Master, and the Taro Princess—each group represents a specific product and personality, and they hold different items. Bear loves the Mung Bean Cake Prince because he rides a bamboo horse—a very cute detail.

The Queen of Egg Yolk Pastry, the Mung Bean Cake Prince, the Sun Knight, the Piggy Hunter, and the Ink Stick Elder.

After taking photos and enjoying the pineapple cakes, visitors who joined the DIY session followed the tour guide up the stairs to the fourth-floor DIY classroom. Since Bear did not join the DIY activity, they took the elevator up to the fifth floor on their own to continue exploring. The Golden Pineapple Castle has eight floors in total. Aside from floors 3 and 4, which require a guided tour, the rest are free to visit.

The 5th floor is the cultural and creative merchandise area. In addition to adorable large plush toys, the walls feature 3D murals. The area showcases cultural and creative goods, gifts, and more for browsing, along with a children's playroom. There’s an introduction to plush toys related to Wanglai Guo, as well as related merchandise for fans to collect. This series of cultural and creative refrigerator magnets featuring Taiwanese snacks? Bear loves them so much—wants to take them all home….^^" Haven’t had red glutinous rice cake in ages. The 5th floor also has a charging station and stamps for visitors to collect.

The small play area includes several slides and interactive projection games, with simple arcade machines outside. In addition to plush toys, the walls also feature 3D interactive murals where you can take cute photos with the adorable characters.

After exploring the 5th-floor cultural and creative merchandise area, take the transparent glass elevator up to the 7th-floor rooftop garden. As soon as you exit the elevator, you’ll see romantic wall decorations—it’s a great spot for outdoor weddings.

Through the castle walls, you can enjoy beautiful views of Kaohsiung. The staircases on both sides are also adorned with romantic 3D interactive murals.

Further back, there’s a vividly realistic 3D mural of a flying Pegasus. Climb onto its back and get ready to soar through the skies.

A red heart-shaped door made of roses leads to the restaurant inside, which offers set meals, light bites, and drinks. Walk up the spiral staircase nearby to reach the 8th-floor Dream Restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide unobstructed views of the scenery.

From the 8th floor of the Golden Pineapple Castle, you can also admire the Kaohsiung Light Tower and the scenic Love River waterfront.

A small green heart-shaped design and quaint European-style streetlamp create a romantic vibe, as if nestled in lush green grass.

Back on the 1st-floor retail area, the booths and designs resemble tree trunks. The circular arrangement of merchandise prevents the space from feeling cramped, allowing visitors to browse at ease.

Even in winter, ice cream is in demand in Kaohsiung, keeping the ice cream machines busy.

The majestic exterior of the castle building features not only a giraffe mural on the roller shutter door but also cute little soldiers near the transparent elevator.
