So, what’s Japan’s number one dessert? The Japanese food website “Tabelog” (tabelog.com) annually ranks restaurants, ramen shops, and desserts. First, it selects 470 establishments based on ratings, and then readers vote for the top 50 most delicious across the country. Recently, the 2016 updated list was announced, with the top three dessert spots all located in Kyoto Prefecture,number one is Shougetsu, number two is Chaya no Bozen, and number three is Xi Fangxuan,all long-established wagashi shops. This shows that Japan still holds a deep affection for traditional, history-rich wagashi.

The fourth to tenth places are respectively Matsuchodo in Osaka Prefecture, M-Coide in Tokyo, Atesway in Tokyo, Kawabata Dokei in Kyoto Prefecture, Asterisk in Tokyo, and Patisserie 0 - Jun Tousho in Kyoto. < /p >
