Travel Center / Comprehensive Report
The cherry blossom season has arrived. The crimson double-petal cherry blossoms in Nantou’s Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area have already bloomed, and the finale — the Musha cherry blossoms — are expected to be at their best starting early March, continuing through mid-March. They have already attracted a large number of blossom-viewing tourists. In addition to admiring the cherry blossoms, visitors can explore two newly renovated themed trails in Aowanda: the Waterfall Trail and the Maple Forest Trail, immersing themselves in nature.

The Nantou Forest District Office stated that the Waterfall Trail is 1,045 meters long, featuring spectacular waterfalls and a double-fall view. Especially noteworthy is the high concentration of negative ions released by the waterfall, reaching up to 45,000 per cubic centimeter — the second highest in Taiwan. After the renovation and reopening, visitors walking along the trail can enjoy the lush greenery of the forest and the essential streams that nurture life, experiencing a refreshing phytoncide-filled atmosphere.
The 1,166-meter-long “Maple Forest Trail” features a wide path leading to the forest park and bird-watching platforms. Along the way, you can see the WanDa River, towering sweet gum trees, and some maple leaves adding color. In addition to cherry blossom viewing, visitors can also enjoy different natural scenery here.
