Tiny water droplets transform into hearts and even write “Welcome” – Visitors praise: “More stunning than the water dance”

From February 22 to March 6, the 2016 Taiwan Lantern Festival held next to Taoyuan High-Speed Rail Station featured not only a 26-meter-tall main lantern “Qi Tian Creates Great Fortune” and six major lantern zones, but also one of its most distinctive features – the creation of numerous “light environments.” Unlike traditional lanterns that use a frame with an outer cover, these light environments employed various methods and materials such as water surfaces, mirrors, glass, projections, and sound to create a different aesthetic style. Visitors could not only view them but also experience the messages the creators intended to convey within the light environments.

In the Multicultural Lantern Zone, there was a light environment that used a “water screen.” The water screen is created by computer-controlled nozzles that precisely spray water droplets in mid-air to form various messages and patterns. On the water screen, visitors could see patterns of camellia flowers, hearts, various designs, and phrases such as “Welcome to the Taoyuan Taiwan Lantern Festival,” all enhanced by projected lighting, attracting crowds to stop and watch. Watching the tiny water droplets transform like little sprites into various shapes, some visitors commented: “More stunning than the water dance!”
