The Alishan cherry blossom season kicks off on March 10, but some sites are already nearing full bloom. If you’re planning to enjoy the blossoms during the 228 holiday, follow the lead of Alishan travel experts！ The Facebook page “Alishan – Strolling Above the Clouds” recently compiled a list of four top cherry blossom viewing spots in Alishan, including Dingshihzhao, the Alishan Work Station, and the Erwanping Youth Activity Center.

“Alishan – Strolling Above the Clouds” suggests that your first stop for cherry blossom viewing can be Gongtian Mituo Zen Temple along County Highway Ji 130, where Somei Yoshino blossoms are around 80% to fully bloomed. At the second spot — Dingshihzhao and Taihe Village — Fuji cherries are nearly in full bloom, but you might need to wait a bit longer for Showa cherries.

The third recommended spot is the Erwanping Youth Activity Center, where you can admire Ryukyu Kanhizakura and Somei Yoshino. The final suggestion is the Alishan Work Station, Zhaoping Park, and Qing Shan Guesthouse in the travel community, where you’ll find nearly fully bloomed Ryukyu Kanhizakura, Kawazu-zakura, and Enju. Visitors are encouraged to head up the mountain during the holiday to enjoy the floral spectacle.
