Aside from cuttlefish roe egg fried rice and tube rice cake, this special in-flight Taiwanese meal from Cathay Dragon and Din Tai Fung also includes stir-fried rice noodles with pumpkin, radish cake, XO sauce beef tenderloin, and braised pork, making a total of eight classic Taiwanese dishes that are widely loved. The selection will rotate every two weeks, with two dishes being changed each time. Cathay Dragon stated that they hope to enhance passengers' flying experience through these delightful aerial meals.

Cathay Dragon has previously collaborated with Maxim’s Group and Thailand’s Blue Elephant Restaurant to offer in-flight meals. Din Tai Fung brings nearly 40 years of experience in Taiwanese cuisine. Both parties hope that through this collaboration, more travelers can have the chance to taste authentic Taiwanese food and be left with a lasting impression.

Li Hong-jun, executive director of Din Tai Fung, revealed that due to the reduced sensitivity of taste buds at high altitudes, as well as changes in flavor caused by refrigeration and reheating, the eight selected dishes were chosen from a pool of 40 options over a period of six months. Li Hai-qing, general manager of Cathay Dragon’s Sales Department, also noted that meals on planes are now prepared using steam ovens, making the recreation of authentic Taiwanese flavors a key consideration in the selection process. Among the eight dishes, Li Hai-qing personally favors the cuttlefish roe egg fried rice the most.
