To celebrate the inaugural flight of Taiwan’s largest low-cost carrier, Kota Kinabalu International Airport held a traditional water cannon salute. The Sabah Tourism Board also organized a welcome party featuring 16 greeters in traditional attire to receive the first flight passengers. In addition, all passengers on the inaugural flight received special edition gifts prepared by the Sabah Tourism Board and Tigerair Taiwan, including shopping bags, commemorative pens, and inaugural flight postcards—both beautifully designed and meaningful keepsakes.

Tigerair Taiwan’s Taoyuan–Kota Kinabalu route will initially operate four flights per week. The outbound flight IT517 departs from Taoyuan Airport at 06:45 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, while the inbound flight IT518 leaves Kota Kinabalu International Airport at 10:45 on the same days. Starting March 27, 2016, the outbound IT517 will be adjusted to depart at 13:55, and the inbound IT518 will depart at 19:10 from Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
