March is not only the season of pink cherry blossoms, but also the best time to admire pale purple wisteria cascading down trellises. With the annual Chiayi “Ruishili Wisteria Season” now underway, head to Meishan Township for a spring outing and enjoy this stunning pale purple scenery!

Thanks to the strong promotion by the Chiayi County Government in recent years, the Ruishili area has become a well-known wisteria viewing destination across Taiwan. The Chiayi County Government noted that the Ruishili wisteria season generally runs from mid-March to mid-April each year, lasting about a month. During the season, wisteria can be spotted everywhere – from schools and restaurants to sidewalks. Paired with facilities such as bamboo groves and walking trails, it creates the most unique purple landscape in Chiayi’s mountain forests.

The “Ruishili Wisteria Season” runs from now until April 16. Travelers may want to plan a one-day trip to appreciate both the cherry blossoms and wisteria of Alishan, and enjoy a different kind of spring scenery.
