Zhonghe Affordable Charcoal-Grilled Steak House – Savor the Original Flavor of a 10-Ounce Prime Ribeye

Last updated 2026-09-24 — I made a special trip to the area near Nanshi Corner after seeing netizens’ recommendations to feast on steak. I heard the owner usually reads my articles and thinks I don’t like charcoal-grilled style. But that’s not true—really, I only care about whether the food tastes good; style comes second. Even with sushi, though I prefer traditional Edomae style, most of the time I go for kappo-style, and I’m perfectly happy with Taiwanese-style Japanese food once in a while.

I made a special trip to the area near Nanshi Corner after seeing netizens’ recommendations to feast on steak.

The restaurant I visited tonight is called TNT American Charcoal-Grilled Steak. The decor is ordinary and the environment is a bit messy but not dirty. Seeing that a 10-ounce American Angus Prime ribeye was only NT$550, I knew I’d regret it all night if I didn’t order it, so I also got a side salad (small, NT$130).

For an affordable steak house, the soup tonight was pretty good—pleasant thickness and creaminess, the warmth hitting me right in the heart as I ate it. The bread wasn’t much to look at, but when you bit into it, a slightly sweet hot cream oozed out. As for the salad—wow. I ordered a “small” portion, but what arrived was basically a “whole bowl.” The table next to us was shocked too and immediately told the waiter, “We’ll have that too!” “Ah, but we just sold out!” As I ate, I felt a little guilty—and also a bit smug, realizing I had the last bowl. The salad had some cheese and olives sprinkled on top, but the dressing was a bit plain. Still, who could finish that huge portion alone? I still had my steak to eat.

When the steak arrived, I realized there was no dedicated steak knife—such a pity for this big, great ribeye. Following the waitstaff’s suggestion, I chose medium-rare, and upon closer inspection, the doneness was just right. It wasn’t thick-cut, but there was enough marbling, and the fat aroma was rich. A few bits of gristle here and there weren’t a big deal. Without any seasoning, it was already delicious—a piece of meat that never had a dull moment from start to finish. It just needed a sharp knife, not a saw.

Before leaving, I was surprised to see a 32-ounce Prime chuck eye steak on the menu—and the price was under NT$700, which seemed like a great deal. It would definitely pair well with that “big bowl” of salad. (smile)
