Luffy and ship girls spotted: Doujinshi and anime carnival appear in Taipei City Hall

Starting March 25, the Taipei City Government × Anime Carnival will be exhibited for three days at the Shen Baozhen Hall of Taipei City Hall. This event is not only the first time the Taipei City Government has hosted an anime event, but also the first time local anime creations have been displayed in the public space of the municipal government building.

The three-day Taipei City Government × Anime Carnival features cosplay parades, a doujinshi (self-published works) market, and anime displays. During the cosplay parade, real Getter Robo, fake Luffy the Rubber Man duo, the Little Mermaid and Prince Eric, as well as the ship girl Yukikaze and ship girl admiral, took turns showcasing youthful energy.

In addition, the venue features artworks from local creators such as the team behind "Jiu Zang Miao Kingdom" (Jiu Zang Miao Wo), illustrator Toby, and bird-themed artist ErA. The doujinshi group market has also invited nearly 80 anime groups from across Taiwan to set up booths, displaying a wide variety of original anime creations.

Tourism and Travel Bureau Director Jane Yuyan stated that compared to the booming anime industry in Japan, original Taiwanese anime faces the challenge of lacking platforms for creators to showcase their work. The Tourism and Travel Bureau hopes that through this event, it can provide a platform for Taiwanese original anime creators to present their work and encourage more people to engage with and support local creations.
