A 4-story transparent skywalk opens to the public: The Time-Space Bridge at the Sanxia History Museum reopens

In addition to its rich collection, the Sanxingdui Museum’s design-forward architecture has also become a popular photo spot among netizens. And starting today, the museum just got even more exciting — the transparent Time Bridge on the 4th floor has now reopened. Standing 18 meters high and stretching 15 meters long, it offers a bird’s-eye view of the archaeological excavation pit on the 1st floor from the 4th floor, both thrilling and intimidating, putting your courage to the test!

The Sanxingdui Museum explained that the transparent bridge on the top floor is named the “Time Bridge” to allow visitors to start from the present-day Sanxingdui site and, as they move downward, observe the archaeological excavation pit dating back 1,800 to 500 years ago. At the end of the bridge is a fair-faced concrete wall facing Guanyin Mountain, pointing directly toward the national Dabenkeng Site, which dates back 6,500 to 4,500 years, carrying deep historical significance. The bridge’s unique design embodies the flow and depth of time.

Museum Director Chen Chunlan stated that in 2014 (103 in Taiwan’s calendar), the Time Bridge was designed with a 3D landscape of the Dabenkeng archaeological excavation pit, which became very popular and saw frequent foot traffic. After three years, it had started to show signs of aging. After careful evaluation by the museum, the glass floor, which had been hidden beneath the 3D landscape and unseen for a long time, has been brought back into use, allowing visitors to once again admire its original transparency and beauty.
