When it comes to xiaolongbao, friends in the Greater Taipei area will surely think of Din Tai Fung. However, besides Din Tai Fung, there are five other xiaolongbao joints in the region that also serve up incredibly tasty bites—some even say they rival Din Tai Fung in flavor. Among them, Jingdinglou is listed as a must-try xiaolongbao spot by many Japanese tourists visiting Taiwan, while Hangzhou Xiaolongbao and Shengyuan Sponge Gourd Soup Dumplings are hidden gems near Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

Jingdinglou
In addition to Din Tai Fung, Jingdinglou is also a xiaolongbao restaurant that many Japanese tourists specify when visiting Taiwan. It’s said that the three founding brothers of Jingdinglou once worked at Din Tai Fung. With rigorous training, the xiaolongbao at Jingdinglou is just as good.

Dianshuilou
Dianshuilou was created by the Nan Chiao Group and specializes in Jiangnan cuisine and dim sum. The menu is both broad and refined, featuring famous dishes from various styles such as Hangbang, Subang, Yangbang, Hu bang, and Yongbang. Its xiaolongbao was once voted online as the most delicious in Taiwan, with a signature thin skin and generous filling.

Hangzhou Xiaolongbao
Hangzhou Xiaolongbao gets its name from being located on Hangzhou South Road. Originally a charcoal-grilled food shop, it later learned the craft from Shanghai 369 Dim Sum Headquarters and added noodle dishes to the menu. The noodle offerings were so well-received that they became the main attraction, with juicy xiaolongbao as the star dish.
