Summer Exclusive: Nantou’s 700-meter “Rural Waterslide,” Taiwan’s Longest, to Begin Trial Operation in July

Last October, Nantou’s Jiji District built a 120-meter town waterslide in the Green Tunnel that was hugely popular. NowXinyi Township Office is promoting tourismby utilizing a 7-year-abandoned section of Provincial Highway 21’s Old Fengqiu Road,to build a 700-meter “Taiwan’s Longest Waterslide,” with trial operations scheduled to start on July 4.

According to Xinyi Township Office, this slide, touted as Taiwan’s longest, stretches 700 meters in length with an internal width of about 1.5 meters. As riders descend from the start, they’ll enjoy scenic views of Xinyi’s mountain forests and countryside—almost like gliding toward a distant horizon. However, since there are residences along the route, 2.2-meter-wide pathways are reserved on both sides of the slide for residents’ access. The slide can also be dismantled during typhoons and reinstalled afterward.

Xinyi Township Office also statedthat this Taiwan’s longest waterslide is a summer-exclusive attraction. Trial operations are planned from July 4 to 6, followed by a full month of operation from July 7 to August 6. Admission is NT$1,000 for all ages, which includes a 3-hour ride.In addition, the slide is bundled with the nearby Glass Light Bridge, offering free admission to the bridge and shuttle bus service, aiming to boost tourism in Xinyi Township.
