Tainan’s “Asia’s Tallest Slide” – A Real-Life 8-Second Thrill Ride to the Ground!

The Shihku Ren Tang Cultural and Creative Park in Tainan has built a 13.5-meter-tall “Asia’s Tallest Transparent Slide,” which debuted at the end of March. As of April 12, around 5,000 to 6,000 people are estimated to have visited just to experience this extreme adrenaline rush. Aside from the fully transparent slide, there is also an advanced white version that remains closed to the public — its challenging nature has staff humorously remarking that only expert-level sliders need apply!

For this report, I went to the Shihku Ren Tang Cultural and Creative Park in Tainan to try out the “Asia’s Tallest Transparent Slide.” On the first floor, you must first put on gloves and arm covers to protect your hands from friction, as well as a safety helmet. Then you head up to the slide entrance. Before sliding, you need to secure a mat around your lower body. Once you relax your body and let go of your hands, you’re ready to experience the rush of speeding downward. The initial descent isn’t very fast, giving you a few seconds to mentally prepare. But as you hit the first curve, the speed picks up dramatically — you’ll feel a slight sense of dizziness. By the time you hit the second curve and land on the ground, that moment can really leave you wobbly and struggling to stand back up.

According to our test, it takes about 8–9 seconds to descend from the height of a five-story building back to the ground. It’s quite the thrill. Due to its intense nature, there are restrictions for riders: anyone with cardiovascular conditions, senior citizens, and pregnant women are strictly prohibited from using it. Clothing should also be simple and comfortable — avoid high heels or sleeveless, spaghetti-strap tops. For children aged 5 to 12, there’s also a dedicated three-story indoor slide designed for younger adventurers to enjoy their own mini version of the fun ride.
