"East Coast Land Art Festival" Call for Submissions  Seven Scenic Areas to Let Art Dialogue with Nature

The "East Coast Land Art Festival" enters its second edition this year. In addition to inviting six domestic artists, it will also extend an international call to two overseas artists. These artists will showcase land aesthetics both indoors and outdoors across seven prime locations celebrated for their scenery and cultural heritage, including Hualien’s Sincheng Peninsula Terraces, Taitung’s Baxiandong Recreational Area, Duli Headquarters, Xiaoma Tribe, Donghe Bridge Recreational Area, Jinzun Recreational Area, and Jialulan Recreational Area. The festival also seeks to host exhibitions by over ten artists in ten open studio spaces, gathering the creative energy of East Coast art communities and realizing the vision of an East Coast Art Corridor.

The "East Coast Land Art Festival," organized by the East Coast National Scenic Area Administration (hereinafter referred to as the ECNSAA) under the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, takes place this year in seven scenic areas. With the theme “Poetic Living: Inhabited Landscape Forms,” it showcases the unique leisurely land aesthetics of the East Coast, both indoors and outdoors.

In addition to commissioning eight artists for residency-based creation, this edition of the festival also looks to collaborate with local art studios. It seeks to host exhibitions by over ten artists in ten open studio spaces across the East Coast, gathering the region’s artistic energy and advancing the vision of an East Coast Art Corridor.

Lin Shin-jen, Director of the ECNSAA, stated that the festival emphasizes residency-based creation and local community involvement. It not only facilitates dialogue between art and natural landscapes but also, through modern cultural tourism strategies, brings together local and international artistic forces to shape the unique cultural and landscape identity of the East Coast.
