Taicheng’s signature honeydew shaved ice scoops out the center of half a honeydew, fills it with banana-flavored shaved ice, then tops it off with fruit-flavored ice cream. 5. Ice D・Kakigōri
This place, Ice D・Kakigōri, is one of Tainan’s up-and-coming dessert shops. The whole store features a Japanese-style design, and the prices are budget-friendly, attracting many students. Their fruit kakigōri is the signature item—made with seasonal fruits, a slightly tangy sauce, and topped with ice, it’s incredibly refreshing. What’s more, their fruit kakigōri is served in an iron pot, which is quite unique. They’re also planning to release new ice desserts soon, so customers have a lot to look forward to.


The owner, Ms. Yang, said thatIce D fruit kakigōri (pictured above)is made with a variety of fresh, in-season fruits. The top layer is drizzled with a sauce made from fresh kiwi, offering a sweet and sour taste reminiscent of plum powder but with a special twist. At the bottom, you’ll find a specially brewed brown sugar syrup. Each part of the bowl offers a different texture and flavor, combining for a refreshing and natural treat.

6. Canaan Fruit Shop
Canaan Fruit Shop actually shares roots with Lily’s and another ice shop called Little Doudou, yet each has developed its own distinctive style while standing strong across Tainan. Here, they offer affordable prices while still delivering that authentic Tainan-style shaved ice experience. Their signature “Mei De Ice” artfully blends various fruits with sauces in a surprisingly harmonious way. Despite the complex ingredients, they create a uniquely delicious flavor. And the portion of fruit—eating a bowl of this ice will basically fill you up, which shows just how generous it is.

A plate piled high with fruit—it’s so full that fruits start falling out with just a little nudge. With around 10 types of fresh fruit on top, you might not even be sure if you’re eating ice or a fruit platter. This is what you’ll find at Homemade Eight-Treasure Ice. The generous portions are truly eye-opening and might leave you exclaiming, “No way!” Aside from the fruit-heavy kakigōri, the shop’s eight-treasure ice comes with a complete assortment of toppings, without being overly sweet or leaving an uncomfortable aftertaste. Just as the name implies, it gives you that warm, homey feeling of satisfaction.
