Hundreds of jacaranda trees in bloom in Kaohsiung – Light purple bells welcome early summer in southern Taiwan

A succession of blooming flowers has painted Kaohsiung’s spring and summer with vibrant hues. As May arrives, the jacaranda trees in Kaohsiung’s Riverside Brisbane Park have come into full bloom. Their delicate, pendulous blossoms sway in the breeze, heralding the arrival of early summer in southern Taiwan.

Kaohsiung became sister cities with Brisbane, Australia in 1997. To commemorate this bond, Brisbane Park was established in the Riverside community, where 100 jacaranda trees — the city flower of Brisbane — were planted. Every May, these light purple blossoms gradually come into bloom, adding a romantic touch to the riverside area. Visitors are encouraged to take a stroll along the riverbank, enjoy the flowers, and spend a leisurely early summer holiday.
