Firefly Season at Xitou Monster Village — Catch the Glow After the Show

As firefly-watching season kicks off across Taiwan, Xitou Monster Village, nestled amidst lush mountains, is naturally joining in. This year’s firefly event is even more creative: first, enjoy the educational and entertaining Firefly Theater show "A Shining Life," then head out on a “field internship” into the nearby mountains to a firefly habitat close to Xitou, where you can admire a sparkling sea of glowing green lights up close.

This year’s firefly season at Xitou Monster Village is different from previous years. To help visitors better understand the life cycle of fireflies as well as their habitats and ecological development, a Firefly Theater show is staged every weekend at 7 p.m. Through drama, visitors can learn about the journey of fireflies from larvae to adulthood, with mascots Kumma and Badou also making appearances in the performance.

After learning about fireflies through the play, visitors will then be led by guides into a nearby habitat in the Xitou area to get an up-close view of fireflies dancing in the air.
