Abroad, many “heart”-shaped landforms formed by natural geography have become romantic sanctuaries and popular tourist spots. But there’s no need to envy other countries—Taiwan also boasts multiple “heart” landscapes, some of which are even closely tied to local culture and ecology. Below is a list of 5 heart-shaped scenic spots across Taiwan. Bring your loved one to admire the views and go for a stroll—it’s an extra special kind of romance.

1. Taipei City, Neihu District – Tongxin Pool
Tongxin Pool was originally an abandoned spring in the Baishihu Community of Neihu. Later, the community transformed it into a “Tongxin Pool,” a double-heart-shaped ecological wetland spring, themed around “finding happiness.” Alongside it, the “Yongjie Pavilion” rest pavilion was built, with the ecological wetland and waterside platform encircling each other, symbolizing “everlasting togetherness.” It has become a romantic destination for couples and lovers. Depending on the flower season, you can enjoy different scenery here, and with the beautiful view of the Baishihu Suspension Bridge, it’s the closest place in Taipei to get close to nature.

2. Yilan County, Yuanshan Township – Taiyang Pi
Taiyang Pi is located within the Taiyang Lake Leisure Farm in Yuanshan Township, surrounded by green mountains and is also a hidden gem recommended by locals for overlooking the entire township. The lake spans approximately 3.645 hectares. Although it doesn’t look heart-shaped on the map, just find the right angle, and you’ll see Taiyang Pi shimmering in a Tiffany blue hue under the sunlight. There is also a 1.9-kilometer walking trail and a café nearby, making it a great spot for locals to relax and enjoy nature.

3. Changhua County, Dacun – Shuangxin Pond
Located in the Heping Community of Dacun Township, Shuangxin Pond is also known as the “Double-Heart Stone Weir in the Fields.” This man-made ecological pond also features lotus flowers. When in season, the pink blossoms add a soft touch of color against the lush green, enhancing the romantic ambiance of the landscape.

Next to Shuangxin Pond, there is also the Pinghe Sunset Viewing Platform. Coupled with the nearby Village East Elementary School Community Reading Center, which resembles an open fairy-tale picture book, it’s a recommended spot for a local day trip.

4. Penghu County, Qimei – Double-Heart Stone Weir
Stone weirs are a fishing method unique to Penghu, where people and the sea coexist, created by slowly stacking rocks with the rise and fall of tides. The double-heart stone weir in Qimei Township, lying closely together in the blue sea, has gained fame for its romantic appearance. It has become not only a popular tourist attraction but also a symbol of eternal love.

5. Penghu County, Jibei – Single-Heart Stone Weir
Although the double-heart stone weir is well-known, Jibei is actually the true “home of stone weirs.” At its peak, the island had around a hundred stone weirs—an astonishing number. There is also a famous local landmark known as the “single-heart stone weir.”
