Nantou’s {Jwhite asparagus is also affectionately called “beauty legs” due to its slender shape and delicious taste, which earned it this nickname. To help both domestic and international tourists gain a deeper understanding of local agricultural specialties, Puli Township in Nantou holds the Beauty Legs Festival every year, which has now reached its 10th edition. In addition to the happy sketching tour in the white asparagus fields—a sketching competition—restaurants across Puli mobilize to offer seasonal dishes related to the beauty legs.

The most anticipated event in the “Beauty Legs Festival” is undoubtedly the “Nantou Beauty Legs Princess Selection” competition. The Puli Township Farmers’ Association announced that registration for the selection contest is now open. Regardless of nationality or place of residence, any unmarried woman aged 16 or above who is enthusiastic about assisting with the promotional activities of the white asparagus industry is welcome to participate. The winner of the 10th “Beauty Legs Princess” title will receive a prize of NT$100,000, with the hope that the selection will boost attention to the local industry and tourism.
