Fireflies can be seen during the day too！ A decade-long effort to revive the Pixie Firefly Museum in Guishan

Can you see fireflies during the day? Located in Guishan District, Taoyuan, the Pixie Firefly Museum, operated by director Qiu Mingde, has been nurtured and restored over ten years of dedication. Inside the museum, visitors can enjoy watching fireflies flutter without being affected or limited by weather conditions. Additionally, as the tung blossom season has recently begun, visitors can admire both fireflies and blossoms for a truly delightful experience.

All the fireflies here are the result of Qiu Mingde’s personal breeding and care. Every year when April and May come around, the museum attracts numerous visitors. One highlight is the “Dark Forest Firefly Viewing Area,” where you can see fireflies glowing and dancing — and you can visit during the daytime, unaffected by the weather. Outdoors, there’s also a netted artificial firefly viewing area where you can enjoy fireflies lighting up the night sky in the evening.

The firefly museum will remain open until the end of May, while the Dark Forest Firefly Viewing Area is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It's best to make a reservation in advance before visiting.
