Help Kumamoto cheer up！Prayer trees set up at Tainan Airport and train stations

Japan’s Kumamoto was hit by two strong earthquakes in April, causing severe damage to the area. To express gratitude for Japan’s assistance following the Meinong earthquake in February this year, as well as to show support for the residents of Kumamoto, the Tainan City Government has launched the “Cheer Up Kumamoto – Stand Up with Kumamoto” prayer campaign starting today at Tainan Railway Station, THSR Tainan Station, and Tainan Airport. Prayer trees have been set up at these locations, allowing travelers to leave messages of support and care for Kumamoto.

The Tainan City Government Tourism Bureau stated that after the February 6 earthquake, many regions in Japan, including Kumamoto Prefecture, provided significant manpower and material assistance to the city. Numerous Japanese citizens also visited Tainan in person to offer their condolences and left messages of support during the city government’s “Stand by Tainan – We’re with Tainan” prayer event, which was deeply touching.

To thank Japan for its support of Tainan, prayer trees will be available at passenger service centers at Tainan Railway Station, THSR Tainan Station, and Tainan Airport from now until May 22. The Tainan City Tourism Bureau has obtained special authorization from Kumamoto Prefecture to produce limited-edition “Cheer Up Kumamoto” prayer cards featuring the Kumamon character, allowing travelers to pick up a card and write their own messages of support.
