Every summer, the most anticipated water-based activity for both children and adults, the “Yilan Children's Folk Game Festival,” takes place at the Dongshan River Water Park. In 2019, the festival enters its 24th year and 20th edition, running from July 6 to August 18. With the theme “Metamorphosis,” all four main event pillars—exhibitions, performances, games, and exchanges—have been upgraded, incorporating more technological elements.

In addition to performances by folk dance troupes from various countries, the show segment now features world-class interactive performance groups parading the streets. The game area offers not only basic water play facilities but also new VR virtual reality interactive experiences. At night, there will be dazzling light and water dance shows as well as a starlight main performance. Park hours have also been extended from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, allowing for fun all day long.

The 2019 Children's Folk Game Festival has upgraded its content without raising prices, and pre-sale tickets offer even better deals. During the event period from July 6 to August 18, regular weekday tickets are 250 NTD and weekend tickets are 350 NTD. Pre-sale tickets will be available from May 10 to July 5 on 7-Eleven, FamilyMart, OK Mart, KKday websites—with weekend individual tickets at 300 NTD and weekday individual tickets at 200 NTD.
Additionally, 7-Eleven and FamilyMart convenience stores offer a combo ticket for both the Folk Game and Traditional Arts zones. Weekday combo tickets are originally 400 NTD, pre-sale price 360 NTD; weekend combo tickets are originally 500 NTD, pre-sale price 460 NTD.
Purchasing pre-sale tickets saves you 50 NTD compared to buying during the event period.
The Children’s Folk Game electronic passport (multi-entry ticket) is now available for online pre-order starting May 20 until the pre-sale deadline on July 5. From May 20 to July 5, the pre-sale discount offers national elementary and middle school students as well as residents of Yilan County a special price of 100 NTD, while the general public outside Yilan County can purchase it for 500 NTD. During the event period, passport holders can enter the park unlimited times.

During the festival period, “Starlight Tickets” are offered for purchase on-site daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Weekday tickets are 150 NTD and weekend tickets are 250 NTD. These also grant access to all park facilities. From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, there will be performances by folk dance troupes from around the world, and in the evening, there will be shows by international headliner teams, street performances throughout the park, and a dreamy light and water dance spectacle—truly spectacular.
